HAN Spaces Piyalepasa is conceived as an innovative coworking and shared office platform that reinterprets the centuries-old culture of traditional inns through contemporary office interior design, technology, and social interaction. Spanning five floors and 4,500 sqm, the project stands as a multifunctional workplace reference for coworking and shared office design in Istanbul.
Developed as part of the Nurus and Alkas partnership, HAN Spaces positions itself as a forward-thinking coworking platform that redefines contemporary work culture through design, technology, and community. The Piyalepasa location was designed not merely as an office building, but as a living working ecosystem focused on collaboration, interaction, and flexibility.
The design approach was shaped to enhance collaboration, creativity, and productivity. Natural materials, diverse plant life, and maximum use of daylight support both physical and mental well-being. The project offers a strong reference for office interior architecture in Istanbul, presenting a contemporary interpretation of new-generation workplaces.
Technology played a defining role in the spatial organization of HAN Spaces Piyalepasa. Meeting rooms were equipped with digital boards, video conferencing systems, and hybrid working infrastructure to ensure seamless communication. Height adjustable ergonomic desks, selected in collaboration with Nurus, enhance user comfort and support long-term physical wellbeing. Libraries located on each floor provide calm and inspiring environments for learning and focused work.
Acoustic comfort was a key design criterion throughout the project. Through collaboration with Feltouch, acoustic solutions were implemented to optimize sound control, ensuring a calm and productive atmosphere within the shared office environment.
In the main circulation areas, custom-designed curvy lighting elements create a sense of flow and visual continuity across floors. The social area features a transformable amphitheater, which adapts throughout the day as a working and gathering space, while also functioning as a flexible stage for events, presentations, and community activities.
HAN Spaces Piyalepasa hosts special art exhibitions and cultural events through collaborations with local artists and galleries. Where art and technology intersect, the space offers a layered and inspiring experience for contemporary work life. A dedicated podcast studio provides professional infrastructure for radio broadcasts, YouTube productions, and digital content creation.
LVT flooring and custom-designed ceramic surfaces used in circulation and kitchenette areas were selected to support easy maintenance, durability, and hygiene. The ceramics were developed in collaboration with graphic design studios, giving the project a distinctive identity. Sustainability, long-term performance, and maintenance efficiency were prioritized in all material selections.
The project accommodates a wide range of functions, including quiet rooms, meeting rooms, open coworking areas, private offices, and conference spaces. Its terrace actively hosts outdoor events, gatherings, and social activities, extending the workspace into the open air.
HAN Spaces Piyalepasa was awarded the iF Design Award 2025, presented by the Berlin-based institution with over 70 years of history, recognizing the project’s spatial quality and design vision. The project was realized as an investment of Polat Holding. Brands such as Nurus, Feltouch, Unigen, Moduleo LVT, and Modulyss carpet tiles were integrated to achieve a holistic balance of ergonomics, acoustics, hygiene, and aesthetic integrity.
Bringing together the shared spirit of traditional inns with contemporary coworking, technology, art, and sustainability, HAN Spaces Piyalepasa stands as an award-winning reference for coworking and shared office interior design in Turkey, positioning itself among Istanbul’s leading workplace projects.
